Week 6 Day 1
Duration: 40 minutes
Warm up: 5 minutes
Run: 30 minutes
Cool down: 5 minutes
2.85 miles/4.59km - If you're keeping track that's another .1 mile better than my last 40 minute workout! Going back to Week 1's workout that's .3 miles better. YEAH PROGRESS!
For today's workout I decided I was going to push myself. My lungs and throat were good last workout so I was feeling confident that I could finally kick it up a notch. They were good again today so I'm super happy about that. I don't want to jinx it but I think the cold from hell is finally, completely gone!
Started the warm up at 3.4mph. Bumped it up to 3.6mph for the last 3 minutes of the warm up. Then I decided to go to 4.8mph for the run and did that for 10 minutes. Went down to 4.6mph for 10 minutes and then I started getting tired. The last 10 minutes of the run I did at 4.4mph. I had to talk myself through every minute of the last 10 of the run. "9 minutes left, 9 minutes, I've got this. 8 minutes left, 8 minutes, Gina you've got this". So forth and so on. LOL! It worked though! I made it through. The cool down I did at 3.2mph.
When I was first thinking about the training I was planning on doing cross training in between but haven't done that yet. I'm going to try and get that in this week. On my off days I want to do strength training. I have a ton of workout DVD's and there are great YouTube channels for working out so really, I have no excuse. My upper body strength is terrible so getting that stronger would be awesome. That and my core. I'll add what I end up doing in between runs into the blog on run days.
Today's run is dedicated to my friend Darcie who looks after my daughter on the days I work and is one of my biggest fans when it comes to my crochet items. The last couple of days I've been working on a messy bun hat design and I wore it this morning because I wanted her opinion. Needless to say she loved it and now wants one so I think I need to name it after her. :-) So thank you Darcie for everything you do and all of your support and love. This one was for you!
