The Race

Image
The race was on Sunday April 29, 2018.  I'm getting to this post late.  Better late than never?  I hope so.  Leading up to the big day my training just did not happen like I had hoped.  I ended up working full time (something I hadn't done for a while as I worked half time/job shared with my wonderful friend Tracy for the last 3 years) for the month of April which made it difficult to dedicate much time to running.  Mother Nature was also not cooperating with my "I want to run outside for the month of April".  I don't want to go back to that time as it was cold, dismal and it's likely going to give me nightmares.  Brrrrr.   My mind was kept off of the big race as I was working/training the new person taking over for me at my old job and working on getting my personal business stuff ready.  My last day of work was April 27th.  I kept thinking to myself that the race was symbolic in that I would be running from the everyday w...

Week 10 Day 2  Duration: 66 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes (3.0 mph) Run:  10 minutes (4.0 mph)            5 minutes (3.6 mph)           10 minutes (4.0 mph)           5 minutes (3.5 mph)           10 minutes (4.0 mph)           5 minutes (3.5 mph)           11 minutes (4.0 mph) Cool down: 5 minutes (3.2 mph) Distance: 4.14 miles/6.66 kilometres This run was intended to happen yesterday after work but that just did not happen.  Plan B was to do it in the morning when I woke up which is exactly what I ended up doing.  Woke up around 7:20, put my workout clothes on, strapped on my shoes and did my run.  It was really good but I was also half asleep so there was that.  Haha!  It was so nice to be able to wake up, run, shower and get on with the rest of my day.   To...

2 For the Price of 1

Week 9 Day 4  Duration: 1 hour 57 minutes, 5.56 miles/8.85 kilometres  I did not do a blog entry because I was grumpy, I didn't have time, I just didn't want to and I was super disappointed about how I did and how crappy I felt about it.  Hindsight, I likely should have written about it the day after but I didn't.  So, moving on... Week 10 Day 1 Duration: 40 minutes 2.86 miles/4.6km Today's run was AMAZING!  I feel like I have my groove back.  I feel really good, my knees are better, feet and ankles feel great too.  Last run I literally felt like I was falling apart.  I'm so happy today went well because I was starting to get really worried I wouldn't be able to do this whole thing.  It's less than a month away!!  But, I did it and it was awesome and now I feel good about it again.  :) Today would have been the perfect day to have a run outdoors but my husband is at work late s...

Spring Break!

Week 9 Day 3: Duration 40 minutes Warm up:  5 minutes - 3.2mph Run:  5 minutes - 4.0mph 5 minutes - 3.2mph 5 minutes - 4.0mph 5 minutes - 3.3mph 10 minutes - 4.0mph Cool down: 5 minutes - 3.2mph 2.41 miles/3.9 kilometres Not the greatest distance but it was a workout nonetheless.  I'm having a hard time with these last few weeks of training.  Reason being that I'm worried about injuries before the marathon.  This happened before the 10K and now I'm concerned it will happen again.  I'm trying to take it easier but then I'm worried I won't be strong enough or prepared come race day.  I also only have 12 workouts left for the training I'm doing and 5 weeks to do them.  I'm going to have to figure something out.  Trying to space them out and add runs in between.  I think I talked about this last week too.   It's Spring Break here this week so I'm home with my daughter.  My Mum is coming mid week an...

Week 9 Day 2 Duration: 63 minutes Warm up:  5 minutes - 3.2mph Run:  10 minutes - 4.2mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.2mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.2mph 6 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.0mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.0mph Cool down:  2 minutes - 3.2mph 3 minutes - 3.0mph 3.94 miles/6.34 kilometres Not going to lie, today was hard.  It was a struggle to get through this workout.  I've been feeling so exhausted and just not motivated at all.  I'm really hoping it's short lived as the half marathon is just over a month away.  I really wanted to call in the last 10 minutes of the run portion and was legitimately planning on walking but after I did the last 3 minute brisk walk I told myself to suck it up and run the last 7 minutes.  I did it.  It was hard.  Why oh why did I sign up for this thing?!  It's so ridiculous.  It is ...

Hustle

Week 9 Day 1 Duration: 40 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes (3.2mph) Run: 30 minutes (4.0mph) Cool down: 5 minutes (3.2) 2.55 miles/4.1 kilometres Today's run was really good.  It was slow and steady because I didn't want to push it too hard after my 2 week absence.  Also, my left knee is giving me grief so I didn't want to injure it.  I used my tensor brace on it when I ran today so I'm hoping that helped.   My head was all over the place today so the time went by super quickly.  I'm in the process of writing up a business plan and getting things ready for when I start doing my business full time.  I've had a photography business for the last 5 years which started off casually then moved to part time and is now moving into full time soon.  Hence the business plan and why my brain is non-stop right now.  Things are moving way quicker now then originally planned so I'm just trying to eat this elephant one bite at ...
