Spring Break!

Week 9 Day 3: Duration 40 minutes Warm up:  5 minutes - 3.2mph Run:  5 minutes - 4.0mph 5 minutes - 3.2mph 5 minutes - 4.0mph 5 minutes - 3.3mph 10 minutes - 4.0mph Cool down: 5 minutes - 3.2mph 2.41 miles/3.9 kilometres Not the greatest distance but it was a workout nonetheless.  I'm having a hard time with these last few weeks of training.  Reason being that I'm worried about injuries before the marathon.  This happened before the 10K and now I'm concerned it will happen again.  I'm trying to take it easier but then I'm worried I won't be strong enough or prepared come race day.  I also only have 12 workouts left for the training I'm doing and 5 weeks to do them.  I'm going to have to figure something out.  Trying to space them out and add runs in between.  I think I talked about this last week too.   It's Spring Break here this week so I'm home with my daughter.  My Mum is coming mid week an...

Week 9 Day 2 Duration: 63 minutes Warm up:  5 minutes - 3.2mph Run:  10 minutes - 4.2mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.2mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.2mph 6 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.0mph 3 minutes - 3.2mph (brisk walk) 7 minutes - 4.0mph Cool down:  2 minutes - 3.2mph 3 minutes - 3.0mph 3.94 miles/6.34 kilometres Not going to lie, today was hard.  It was a struggle to get through this workout.  I've been feeling so exhausted and just not motivated at all.  I'm really hoping it's short lived as the half marathon is just over a month away.  I really wanted to call in the last 10 minutes of the run portion and was legitimately planning on walking but after I did the last 3 minute brisk walk I told myself to suck it up and run the last 7 minutes.  I did it.  It was hard.  Why oh why did I sign up for this thing?!  It's so ridiculous.  It is ...

Week 9 Day 1 Duration: 40 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes (3.2mph) Run: 30 minutes (4.0mph) Cool down: 5 minutes (3.2) 2.55 miles/4.1 kilometres Today's run was really good.  It was slow and steady because I didn't want to push it too hard after my 2 week absence.  Also, my left knee is giving me grief so I didn't want to injure it.  I used my tensor brace on it when I ran today so I'm hoping that helped.   My head was all over the place today so the time went by super quickly.  I'm in the process of writing up a business plan and getting things ready for when I start doing my business full time.  I've had a photography business for the last 5 years which started off casually then moved to part time and is now moving into full time soon.  Hence the business plan and why my brain is non-stop right now.  Things are moving way quicker now then originally planned so I'm just trying to eat this elephant one bite at ...

Week 8 Day 4: Duration 1 hour 50 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes Jog: 100 minutes Cool down: 5 minutes 6.33 miles/10.2 kilometres As you may have noticed I have not done a workout in over 2 weeks.  I've been so busy and really haven't had much time to run.  Bad time management on my part but hey, LIFE!  So today I got back to it and of course, it was a looooong run day.   Started the warm up at 3.0mph and then did the jog part at 3.5mph.  I really didn't want to push it as it's been a long time since I last ran/worked out.   I have been curling on Saturday's but that's really not as much exercise as I've been used to since I started training for this half marathon.  It was a good workout!  I have all of the blisters on my feet right now and am sure I'll be sore later.  Thankfully I'm going for a massage this afternoon.   There was no playlist today as I watched CTV Morning Live and then Live with Kelly and Ry...

Week 8 Day 3 Duration 40 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes Run: 30 minutes Cool down: 5 minutes  Warm up: 3.6mph Running Intervals: 5 minutes at 4.2mph 5 minutes at 5.0mph 5 minutes at 4.3mph 5 minutes at 4.9mph 5 minutes at 4.4mph 5 minutes at 5.0mph Cool down: 3.7mph 2.92 miles/4.7 kilometres Soooooo freaking close to 3.0 miles!  There are a few things I'll do for next time I think to ensure I get there.  It was a really good run.  I was focused, strong and my breathing was steady.  Not sure about you, but when my breathing is off I get tired faster and it's just not as good of a workout. Instead of listening to a playlist today I went old school and listened to my broadcasting BFF, who is back in Winnipeg, on the radio!  Tune into Hot 100.5 and listen to my super awesome friend "AJ" and Kirby in the morning!  Great music to workout to.  They have an app for that which is very co...

Week 8 Day 2 Duration: 60 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes Run: 50 minutes Cool down: 5 minutes 4.12 miles/6.78 kilometres The running portion of this workout was done in intervals as follows: 4 minutes running 5.2mph 1 minute brisk walk 4.0mph 3 minutes running 5.1mph 2 minutes brisk walk 4.0mph 3 minutes running 5.0mph 2 minutes brisk walk 4.0mph 3 minutes running 4.9mph 2 minutes brisk walk 4.0mph 3 minutes running 4.8 mph 4 minutes brisk walk 3.4mph 3 minutes running 4.7mph  2 minutes brisk walk 3.4mph 3 minutes running 4.6mph 2 minutes brisk walk 3.4mph 3 minutes running 4.6mph 2 minutes brisk walk 3.4mph 3 minutes running 4.5mph 2 minutes brisk walk 3.2mph 3 minutes running 4.5mph It's a lot of switching back and forth but it's good.  I was going to try and do 4 minutes running and 1 walking but all I could muster up after that first interval was 3 minutes of running and 2 of walking.  It worked out well though so I'm happy wit...

Week 8 Day 1 Before I get into it there is an amendment from last run.  I forgot to put the distance run which was 6.36 miles/10.24 kilometres.   Duration: 40 minutes Warm up: 5 minutes Run: 30 minutes Cool down: 5 minutes 2.66 miles/4.3km So, not the greatest 40 minute run distance wise.  I started of way too cocky and then it went downhill.  Warm up was done at 3.6/3.8mph.  Run started at 5.0mph and I maintained that for 10 minutes, no problem.  I went down to 4.0mph for a couple minutes and then tried to go back up but got a cramp in my side and was not able to.  For the remainder of the workout I did a combo of jogging and walking.  I didn't keep track of what and when for speeds and times after the cramp.  It eventually went away but by then it was too late to run much.  I did the last 3 minutes running at 4.2mph and then the cool down was 3.2mph. The first half of the run was SO good!  I was so sure...
